Leadership
My intrinsic motivation for leading lies with the essence of who I am as a person, not an engineer. An engineer is just the outer shell that defines my “what”, meaning what I do for a living.
Communication
I have come to recognize that I am someone who needs to help advance society in a significant way. I want to see others benefit from my efforts.
Ship Trip: A Proper Navy Experience
I volunteered to help an engineering team improve their ability to model rotary wing aircraft launch and recovery envelopes from an amphibious warship.
“I feel the need, the need for speed!”
I helped make the 2022 film TOP GUN: Maverick, possible! This film is the sequel to the famous 1986 TOP GUN, in which two naval aviators are given the chance to train at the elite US Navy’s Fighter Weapons School.
Conformal Fuel Tanks to Give Super Hornet Longer Legs & Extend Navy’s Force Projection
Since 2015, I have played an instrumental role as a technical counselor to the program office that managed the acquisition of the Conformal Fuel Tanks (CFTs) designed for F/A-18E/F and EA-18G tactical aircraft
Aircraft Compatibility Testing with Next Gen Supercarriers
As the new “Ford” class of supercarriers came online in 2020, I played an instrumental role in certifying updates to the flight manual that included changes to catapult launch settings for the Super Hornet and Growler aircraft.
Onboard Mission Planning Apps to Reduce Pilot Workload
I worked on a team comprised of flight test pilots and software engineers to develop the first ever F/A-18E/F Takeoff and Landing (TOLD) app designed for onboard use.
Next Gen Air Dominance Program to Replace F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
I produced performance data and trade studies for advanced conceptual aircraft designs for the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program.
Next Generation Jammer: The Pod that Protects Pilots
For the past seven years, I have supported the design and testing of the Next Generation Jammer Mid-band (NGJ-MB) pods on the EA-18G Growler as part of a team comprised of the US Navy, Raytheon, and Boeing.
NAVAIR: There Are No Limits to What You Can Do Here
I produced performance data and trade studies for programs pertaining to external store integration on aircraft, such as AARGM-ER, LRASM, AIM-260A, IRST, MALD-N, and SDB-II to name just a few.
Presenting In-person To Diverse Audiences
It was important for me to gear the briefs toward a wide audience, many of which didn’t have technical backgrounds. I accomplished this with separate slides for the introduction/objective, summary, and recommendations.
Multi-Discipline Engineering Collaboration
Quite often in my career I have received data requests from engineering specialists in other disciplines. Another skill that I developed was to work with the requester to understand how data I provided would be used and what questions they were trying to answer for their own customer.
Technical Reporting
I wrote a detailed wind tunnel post-test report summarizing the effects that a major airframe change had on aircraft performance.
Working with Aircrew
I am well versed in communicating engineering data to aircrew. Over time, I noticed many different squadrons (i.e., a group of personnel that operate aircraft) came to our team with similar technical questions.
